It is not possible to visit the island without seeing the sunken boat, which is called Lolia, a cargo ship that was operating in the shipping line between the port of Aqaba and the port of Suez, which sank in the eighties of the last century to leave us a distinct and unique witness in the Tiran Reef area

The island was called the old name (Aitab area), as it was the imperial customs station in the Byzantine era during the sixth century AD to collect taxes from trade caravans coming from India to Byzantine ports, and large Byzantine ships and small-sized boats trading in spices of all kinds passed through it on the eastern shore of the Red Sea, and from Tiran Island, ships would sail to the port of Aqaba (Ayla in ancient times) and the seaport of Suez (Qalazm in ancient times) and from there by land to Alexandria and the Nile River, where the products of the East were distributed to all countries of the Mediterranean basin.

Excursion Program
